Bristol Braille Technology

Bristol Braille Technology CIC is a not-for-profit community interest company dedicated to increasing literacy, education and employment for blind people.

BBT's first product, the Canute 360, is the world's first and only affordable and multiline refreshable Braille display. Designed by, with and for the blind community, built in the UK, distributed all over the world. Their work with the Braillists Foundation's 1,500 subscribers over the pandemic helped create a community of learners and Braille resources that is now used all over the world.

Now BBT are revolutionising how Braille readers can engage with and work in Computer Science, increasing the number of blind people in employment (from the very low rate of one in four) and helping create role models for future generations.The result of this work is their second product, the Canute Console.
